ODYSSEY TO THE ORIENT - Group Show, August 2012

Two of my Homage to Hokusai paintings are currently on display on the island of Paros, in the Cyclades, Greece. Entitled 'Odyssey To The Orient', it is curated by Paulien Lethen, a Brooklyn gallery owner who has converted the beautiful townhouse used by the Paros Art School, into a replica of her residence when she spent several years in Japan.

And here's my rather shaky tour of the show itself. It was a hot night, and people are pretty much drowned out by the crickets at one point, but hopefully you'll get an idea of the beautiful house and its rooftop view. I made a lot of great friends on this trip, and met some fantastic artists, some of whose work you'll be able to see in this clip:

SKETCHES features any random drawings that happen to be lying around the studio. It'll give you more of an idea of my art background or interests. ESSAYS ON ART will feature extra information about my work, and other related thoughts. The essays will continue to be published first on the news page, and then later move to the ESSAYS tab, where they can be more accessible to the casual visitor. UNION JACK 'MOOD FLAG' - PROGRESSIONS

THREE'S COMPANY

I seem to design everything in sets of three, and even divide many of my paintings into three compositional elements. The paintings in this pic are currently spending the month apart for the first time: The two on the left - RIOT POLICE , and GREEN FIGHTER-JET - are currently on show in the art space below COFFEE LOUNGE, Navigation Street, Birmingham, and the one on the right - ARCHIPELAGO - is currently on show at ZELLIG, Digbeth, Birmingham, as part of the UNITED COLOURS OF BIRMINGHAM exhibition.
