I've been busy lately with these individual pieces of art. All are pen and ink on watercolour postcards, no pre-planning, just a kind of 'Rorschach test' for whatever mood I am in at that moment. Great fun, and very satisfying ( as well as addictive ) to create a piece of art in one or two days. Here's a selection...
...I'll publish the full selection soon, in a future edition of MONOBLOG.
Around Birmingham, there is a severe lack of white walls to actually hang art. However, there is no shortage of white walls to paint...if you don't mind getting arrested. Here's a visualisation of what my studio building would look like, if I had a very long ladder - and a good lawyer.
Last year I did some postcard art for a friend to auction and raise money for her art college. It was great fun, so I've now bought a stack of blanks and am doing one a day, covering everything from cubism to futurism to vorticism and surrealism to photorealism. None of it is pre-meditated. I may draw a grid to get me started but that's about it. I have no idea what I'm aiming for. I'll post the selection soon...small art is very liberating..!
Yeah, maybe I should attempt to break some kind of record, and post a new piece of art every day for the rest of the year..? Here's today's. I can't seem to get Hokusai's 'The Great Wave' out of my system, can I?
It's designed, researched and edited by me..! This month's bumper holiday edition features an interview with renowned international artist Esther Stocker, and art and interviews with colleagues both national and international. Check it out!
