SHADOWS AND FOG
Unusually dense fog on the way to Chipping Campden to visit our favourite country gallery. Within five minutes of these photos, the sun was out and we had to don sunglasses..!

ALEXI K AT THE LONDON ART FAIR - FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY*
*Just to be clear, I am not in the current London Art Fair. I was merely a visitor. However, on the way back from there, en route to Marylebone and then the Midlands, I spotted this beautiful section of wall, currently under repair, at Moorgate Tube Station. I love the colour of the concrete and the ghostly blue line.
So I am declaring this patch of wall at Moorgate, an official Alexi K.

SLEEP DEPRIVATION
Below: 'Vector Mandala', Jan 2017.
Experimenting with vector drawings over Christmas has had the unfortunate side-effect of allowing me to work late into the night. Whereas with painting, you have a short window of natural daylight, and are then forced to down tools for the day, with computers you just keep going, your brain kept artificially awake by the glow of the screen affecting your melatonin levels.
At that point, your brain is on auto-pilot, randomly composing pictures out of lines that are drawn, multiplied, flipped, mirrored, grouped, duplicated, and so on. That's why so many recent pieces in this blog have been made of 'discarded fragments'. It's when, days later, I come across files that I barely have any recollection of, and am able to enjoy them with fresher eyes.
The above composition was originally discarded because it looked 'too picturesque'.
It's made out of this simple shape being repeated:
With enough repitition, the results become increasingly complex, forming other, hidden shapes inside the larger structure.

MULTIPLE SINGULARITIES
CONTINUING EXPERIMENTAL WORK...
( All diagrams made from discarded fragments of other drawings, randomly placed on top of each other, and made entirely of vector lines. )

KEEP CALM
For a blog that I only mention on Facebook or Twitter once in a while, it proves that there are a lot of people who like abstraction, because this site is now averaging 10,000 views a month.
It's very satisfying to know that there is such a huge audience for non-representational art. Thanks for visiting!

EXPERIMENTAL WORK #7
Note: At some point I may consolidate these experimental pieces into one or two posts, to make it easier to navigate around the rest of my blog. - Alexi

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Like the examples before it, this was made out of the discarded scraps of the preceding compositions that are found at the edge of my digital 'artboard'. There is no end to the shapes and structures that can be made out of these fragments, without even having to draw new ones. You are simply just recycling old shapes, lines and groups. They react in novel ways to what is over, or under them. Even my logo can slide in under the art, instead of sit on top.
